Why haven’t I dialated at all, I’m 38 weeks now is this normal?

I found out at 33 weeks that I had a Urinary Tract Infecction which was making me have contractions I was treated and they gave me a shot to stop me from going into preterm labor. I ended up getting a shot in my butt some kind of steroids that were supposed to speed the babies lung developement up since I was at risk for preterm.I didn’t get rid of the UTI the first time and was hospitilized again and sent home with more meds. Once the infection was clear I have had no signs of dialation but am still having contractions. My hips, pelvis bone, back, and legs hurt when is it going to be over?!?!

I had the similar prob with my son(3rd child). They gave me shot to stop contractions when I was 31 weeks. Never did go into labor, ended up having my water break, still no contractions, doctor said wait, waited another 4 hours, still no contractions, ended up having drugs to induce contractions.I was 39 weeks when he was born. Good luck, and keep checking with your doctor to make sure of your situation. He may need to help you dialate. They can do that if needed. Are the contractions at normal intervals, or are spaced funny,?

I had a UTI and a kidney infection, so I know how that feels but you should start dailating here in the next week, if not some women go two weeks past 40 weeks, it will be okay, and if you don’t the doctors you go to will put you in the hospital and give you a shot to help you go into labor

Yes it is normal. I had preterm labor with my first and had to have surgery to close things up down there. But dialation is something that your body will progress to by itself, unless your doctor starts to induce you. He will probably have a few tricks to get you going. Good luck!

UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW WHEN TEH BABY WILL COME, WHEN ITS READY IT WILL. AND ITS NOT ABNORMAL THAT YOU HAVENT DILATED ANY. I FIND IT ODD THEY GAVE YOU A SHOT BECAUSE IF THOSE CONTRACTIONS WERE NOT CHANGING THE CERVIX THEN CLEARLY THEY WERE NOT REAL CONTRACTIONS. I JUST WENT THROUGH THAT MYSELFA FEW WEEKS BACK. THEY WERE TWO MINUTES APART FOR 2 HRS AND I WAS NOT DILATING EITHER SO THEY SAID THEY WERE BRAXTON HICKS. I FEEL UR PAIN AND KNOW HOW FRUSTRATING IT IS BUT HEY WE BOTH KNOW IT WILL HAPPEN WHEN ITS TIME

Its very normal. It’ll happen when your body is ready. At 38 weeks i had not dilated at all. I delivered my baby on my 39th week.
